FSDS* - environmentally sensitive
sanitation and waste water treatment system
*(FSDS - Field Septic Disposal System - a development of what was known as BIPU)
FSDS offers a low cost, easily installed, environmentally sensitive sanitation and waste water treatment system using only natural processes without the need for chemicals or skilled labour.
The FSDS system connects to a standard or oriental flushing toilet pan. It can be installed in any location where there is no sewage service. This permits building development in difficult or remote locations for farming activities, holiday housing, mountain or coastal villages, seaside tourist developments, golf courses, schools and community health facilities.
FSDS can be effectively, efficiently and economically deployed in emergency relief operations. FSDS has been very successful in recent deployments to a wide range of relief situations throughout the world, including Bande Ache (see images this page), East Timor, Bouganville and Uganda

The basic sanitation system was originally designed for use by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in remote, non serviced or disrupted areas.
Every FSDS system can be designed to suit all waste water applications from a single house through to emergency displaced person camps, permanent schools, sporting clubs and commercial enterprises.
